At the 07-Nov-09 meeting the chapter approved the initiative to purchase a chapter house and the Pizazz Reception Hall
as outlined in the business plan that was presented for chapter
review. The next step is to communicate to all Brothers (financial
& non-financial) what we're attempting to accomplish, and to
recruit Brothers back to Phi Beta Sigma along with their support and
donations.
In short, this purchase of a fraternity house is
through the tax-exempt Foundation arm of our chapter. Brother Alden
McDonald of Liberty Bank has committed $25,000 toward the purchase of
the house. When we meet with Liberty Bank to discuss our approach, we
want to show our chapter's commitment to this enterprise. An element
of the plan involves our chapter matching (or surpassing) Bro. Alden
McDonald's contribution to the effort. Brothers, please review the
final draft of this Business Plan.
It describes how and what we're trying to do. If you're willing and
able, we're looking for contributions in increments of $1,000.
However, no contribution will be turned away. To make it work, Liberty Bank has also agreed loan the $1,000 to Brothers that can't afford the upfront cash payment, but could qualify for a personal loan. Brothers can then repay the loan on an installment basis. Click here for a copy of the Liberty Bank Consumer Loan Application. At our first meeting on
07-Nov-09 we collected $10,000 and while the ball has started rolling
we still have a ways to go. If you want to be part of this, contact me
at: Will@ThetaBetaSigma1914.Org
If
you want - you can send your contribution through the mail directly to
our Treasurer: Bro. Tyrone Ben, 2101 Centanni Drive, St. Bernard, LA
70085-5807. If you elect this route, then make the check out to "Theta Beta Sigma Programs and Housing Foundation".
He will tally your contribution and deposit it in our Liberty Bank
account. Remember it's tax deductable, and for those of us that
itemize and claim charitable deductions this is will be an effective
way to claiming those same deductions. For photos of the most recent chapter house signage - click here: Signage1 or Signage2.
